A PRO-BIKE classic cycling race was held on Sunday in dry and temperate weather around the tough 4.97 mile Brentor circuit.  The mix of professional and amateur racing cyclists took part in a 56 mile slog climbing the Brentor hill a total of ten times.

James Smith, the founder of http://www.rutrainingtoday.co.uk">www.rutrainingtoday.co.uk, promoted the event, which was sponsored by luxury Swiss watch manufacturer wwwmarvinwatches.com

The day started with the women's races where Ali Holland Shred Racing took the win with a late attack during the last of the four laps to beat second placed Emily McLoughin. Emma Whittlesea does enough to take SW RR champs in the ladies category.

The men's race was a hotly contested affair with a strong field probably because of the attractive prize of an £2000 M108 fine Swiss watch from the sponsors.

The start sheet was full of the best riders in the UK including a full Rapha Condor Sharp line up with the likes of Dean Windsor, Tom Southam, Zak Dempster and Graham Briggs.  Pendragon Le Col Colnago had also brought out the big guns with Yanto Barker.  Willer Big Maggys had a strong team with number ranked UK rider Marcin (the Polish express) Bialoblocki.

However, it was Australian Zak Dempster who narrowly beat Darren Lapthorne to win and the prized £2,000 M108 Marvin Watch. Organisers said it was a wonderful professional racing atmosphere and thanked all the marshalls, timekeepers, commissaries, photographer and the riders.
