Tavistock Ladies 2nds 8 Salcombe Ladies 1 TAVISTOCK Ladies second hockey team took to the pitch for the last time this season in their last league match. For Tavistock, currently second in the league, this was a crucial match. It opened with a Salcombe push-back, which Tavistock intercepted to gain possession.The team worked well, playing a passing game with excellent teamwork that drove the ball up the pitch and towards the goal. Repeated attacks inevitably ended with the first goal. The forwards kept the pressure on throughout and never once loosened their grip on the game and possession. But Salcombe made a heavy break and the overwhelming numbers found a gap in the defence and scored. The second half saw Tavistock keep their heads high and come out more determined. They dominated the game with the majority of play in the opponents? half. Tavistock conceded a few short corners but the tightly rewoven defence let nothing through. A constant team effort saw goal after goal go in. Even with victory in their sights Tavistock did not slacken. The total goal tally stood at Bassett, Firth (3), Barratt (3) and Honey.
