Tavistock B 5 Penzance B 4 TAVISTOCK women?s hockey B team entertained Penzance for their last league game of the season. It was crucial for Tavistock to win as it would ensure they would not finish bottom of the table. The game started well for the home side and it was not long before the forwards caused havoc amongst the Penzance defence. Holland proved too much of a handful for the Penzance players and was passing good balls into the D. With all this pressure it was not long before goals started to go in for Tavistock, with two from Wood and one from Mackintosh, but Penzance managed to pull one back. As the second half started Tavistock seemed to lose concentration in defence and Glanville, returning from a loan spell, tried to organise the players around him. Penzance battled hard to pull the game back to all square after Ludwig had got Tavistock?s fourth. As the minutes ticked by Tavistock needed to take control. Cooley and Young stepped up a gear in midfield, and Wills and Roberts were making themselves available on the wings to give Tavistock other options. Tavistock played poorly in the second half but still pressed for the win. After a minor incident involving Mason, Penzance briefly paused, but this proved costly to them. Mackintosh continued to play on and crossed the ball into the D for Wood to score the wining goal. This was a good end of season for the B team who now look forward to positive times ahead.
