MORWELLHAM Quay is appealing for West Devon craftsmen to help bring their Victorian tableaux to life.
The tourist attraction wants more real craftsmen on site, including real blacksmiths for its forge and real coopers, potters and artists for its workshop. There are also opportunities for greenwood workers on Morwellham's farm.
Chosen craftsmen are able to make a flexible commitment, and although the Quay is open seven days a week, craftsmen can share facilities and operate on different days.
There are also other opportunities available for local people to get involved at Morwellham. For those who do not wish to spend time on the site but who craft quality goods, there is the opportunity to become involved in a craft gallery. Morwellham's retail facilities are being expanded to create a gallery of local crafts.
The final independent opportunity at Morwellham Quay this year is with the catering facility adjacent to the village playground. Morwellham are looking for someone interested in developing the bakery, where visitors can purchase pasties, baguettes, tea, coffee and soft drinks.
Morwellham Quay's successful recreation of a village in 1860 at the height of port and mine activity in the Tamar Valley attracts 50,000 visitors each year.
The closing date for all independent opportunities at Morwellham Quay is February 28, 2002. Anyone interested in the chance to use their skills at the Quay should contact the director at Morwellham on 01822 832766.
