Okehampton U15s 44
Bude U15s 5
OKEHAMPTON entertained the home supporters with a convincing win over a weakened Bude side.
Dan Hudson hooked the opposition scrum ball and Matt West, Sam Turner and Simon Cox took the lineout ball. This, coupled with dominance in the loose, laid the foundations for an eight-try victory.
Simon Cox scored the first three with driving runs from the loose. Richard Bolt added the fourth of the first half straight from the kick off. Alun Williams caught the ball and ran into space before committing the tackler and creating the space for Bolt to fly around the tackles, scoring under the posts and converting for seven points.
In the second half Bolt opened the score with a switch at the base of the scrum and a run down the blind side.
He set up the next from a quick penalty with a 20-yard run and Paul Lawrence picked up the ball from the ensuing ruck and dived over the try-line.
Both wings then scored; Ian Brooks in the corner after a miss-move in the centre gave him space on the outside and Jack Preston from halfway after taking the ball off the shoulder of Bolt at full pace and accelerating away from four tacklers. Herrod-Taylor converted.
Bude earned a try late in the game from a short penalty.
This week home to Exeter Saracens, kick-off 11am.
