Tavistock 3 Buckland 2 AFTER last week?s opening day defeat Tavistock bounced back with a narrow victory over a determined Buckland side. Payne had a 20 yard free kick saved by the visitors? keeper, then Buckland made it 1-0, only for Cann to level matters within five minutes with a fierce free kick from 25 yards. The second period started better for Tavistock. Cowling?s looping shot from 50 yards was superbly saved by the visiting keeper. Hoskin only had to tap in the rebound, but somehow shot wide. But again Tavistock paid dearly, losing possession in good areas allowing Buckland to break and score their second. Tavistock finally woke up in the last 15 minutes. Hamilton and Gorste combined to set up Cowling ? with only the keeper to beat he calmly shot past him from 14 yards. In the last five minutes Tavistock pressure told as again good build-up play resulted in Cowling grabbing what was to be the winner. Tavistock are home in the Devon Senior Cup against local rivals Bere Alston, Saturday September 10 , kick off 2.30pm.
