Division Two

Biscovey . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1

LAMERTON began their new season in Division 2 with a solid performance over a young Biscovey side obviously building for the future.

The visitors almost took the lead when, from a quick break they hit the foot of the post. But Lamerton began to dominate midfield with Kev Swift and Dan Healy taking control in the centre and Dave Byworth and Steve Gibbings creating space on the flanks.

An excellent through ball put Paul Cowling clear and he rounded the keeper to open the scoring. Shortly afterwards Swift doubled the advantage when he volleyed home a lay off from Pete Broomfield.

Chances came frequently in the first half with the two strikers both coming close and Paul Breyley dangerous with headers ? but the score remained at 2-0 at half time.

The second half saw Lamerton slightly less dominant but they made the game safe when Cowling rifled home his second.

The back four were in control throughout, despite losing Tony Jones with a knee injury after an hour, and Pete Daniel was rarely troubled in goal.

With a couple of minutes remaining the visitors pulled a goal back when Simon Carhart hit a tremendous shot past the unsighted Daniel from 25 yards out. Overall a very satisfactory start to a season in a higher division.

This Saturday home to Menheniot in the league. ( k.o. 2.30) pm).
