TAVISTOCK Golf Club ladies won their last two matches of the season in division 1 of the County Scratch Competition. On July 25 they beat Staddon Heights 6-1 and on August 1 they achieved a victory against Teignmouth 4-3.

The ladies? July medal was combined with the Rickeard Bowl and the M G Rover Challenge qualifier.

The Rickeard Bowl, for players who have won medals or stablefords in the previous year, went to Shirley Trevena (nett 73), runner-up Gabrielle Greening (74).

The Rover Challenge was won by June Kendall (nett 72 c/b) second Jenny Bryant (72). June will join the vets? winner (conveniently her husband Ken) together with the men?s winner Keith Klein, in a team game at Woodbury Park in September.

July medal results were Div 1: 1, Chris Leach (nett 66); 2 Shirley Trevena (73). Div 2: 1, Ann Martyn (63), 2 Sally Timpson (69).

July stableford results, Div 1: Elaine Cooper (40 points); 2, Victoria Coe (34). Div 2 1, Sue Gawman (42 c/b); 2, Sally Hills (42). Div 3: 1, Judith Morley (41), 2, Jane Scourse (39).

The winner of the Withington Bowl on July 22 was Margaret Burn (nett 67), runner-up Sue Coles (69).

The results of the medal were: 1, silver, Gloria Westhead (nett 71), 2, Penny Deakin (72 c/b). 1 bronze Sally Hills (nett 66), second Margaret Burn (67).

The day raised £30 for the NSPCC.
