THE ladies of Okehampton Golf Club have had a successful end of season week. On Friday they had two teams playing in the first Devon County Bowmaker, which was introduced by county captain Sue Persey.

They played at Thurlestone. Kay King, Kath Mansell and Amanda Winsor scored 75 points and gained fourth place. But captain Cherry James with Penny Deakin and Marica Jones had the best possible result by winning with 77 points on countback from Fingle Glen.

The ladies also played a greensomes friendly at home against Great Torrington. This team also had a good result as they won 3-1. Wednesday saw all the ladies playing a fun iron maiden stableford, which is an irons only competition. The winner was Ann Brokenbrow with 32 points, second was Kay King 31, third was Lorna Evans with 27 on countback from Cherry James and fifth was Gladys Thatcher 25.

A four ball better ball stableford was the competition for Saturday. Dave Bickle and Lee Pengelly won division 1 with 45 points but second, third and fourth places had to be decided on countback as they all scored 43 points. Joint second were Graham Moysey and Malcolm Hooper, John Tolley and Martin O'Connor and fourth were Pete Murphy and Keith Harkness.
