A CHEQUE for £500 was presented to the Tavistock Hospital League of Friends from the Tavistock Country Ladies' Association.

The association was formed 20 years ago and since that time has contributed £11,000 to local charities through its fundraising activities.

The ladies meet on the third Wednesday of each month between April and September at the Union Inn.

Formal business is followed by a talk or demonstration on a variety of topics.

The association would like to increase its membership and would welcome new members.
