AN election has been called for a seat on West Devon Borough Council to represent the Tavistock North ward, following the resignation of Conservative Mike Harper.

The election will be on Thursday June 21 at Tavistock Methodist Church Hall from 7am to 10pm.

Nomination papers for prospective candidates who would like to stand for the election are now available and can be collected from West Devon Borough Council's offices at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, or they can be sent out in the post by contacting the elections office by email at [email protected]">[email protected] or by telephone on 01822 813665. The papers can also be downloaded from http://www.westdevon.gov.uk">www.westdevon.gov.uk The completed nomination papers must be returned by noon on Wednesday May 23. The last day for registering to vote for this election is Wednesday June 6.

The make-up of the council is currently Conservatives 17 seats, Independents 10, Liberal Democrats 3, one vacancy.
