A VACANCY exists on Tavistock Town Council's north ward, following the resignation of Cllr Ashley Tossell.

The seat will be filled either by a by-election, or the council can co-opt a new councillor.

A by-election will be held if more than ten electors from the north ward give notice in writing requesting one should take place within 14 days from today (Thursday).

Requests should be sent to the Returning Officer, West Devon Borough Council, Kilworthy Park, Drake Road, Tavistock PL19 0BZ.

Mr Tossell was co-opted to the council in 2009 and retained his seat in 2011, when members from both north and south wards were returned unopposed.
