CALSTOCK Parish Council has given its support for a new portable fish and chip enterprise to visit Calstock once a week.
Ahoy Fish and Chips will set up on the green area next to the parish council-owned car park, starting from the second week in October.
Harry Taylor from Ahoy told councillors at a meeting last week that it was a quiet enterprise operating on batteries and gas and no generator. He said eventually they wanted to run on their own chip oil and all the packaging was biodegradable.
He said they aimed to visit places that did not have a fish and chip shop and offered a free delivery service to senior citizens.
The Millbrook-based business will also be visiting Cawsand and is in negotiations with St Germans Parish Council.
Cllr Lee Manning said the Tamar Inn at Calstock already offered fish and chips to take away, but other councillors said competition was not a bad thing and it was good to support a local business.
