THERE will soon be an opportunity for pony lovers in West Devon to offer a home to a young foal from the South West Equine protection yard.

SWEP deals with many sad cases of neglected and abused ponies from Dartmoor and Exmoor and some of the animals who arrive with the charity are in-foal.

Laura Head, fundraiser for SWEP, said: 'It has been lovely this year to have some fit and healthy new arrivals in the form of our gorgeous foals. We had one foal come in at foot with their dam and four other foals born whilst with SWEP.

'All of our foals will be available for re-homing once they are weaned; if someone is interested in offering a home to one of them they will need to go through the application process and have a home check, the same as our other ponies.'

Laura said the re-homing fee could be paid in advance so the foal could go straight to their new home as soon as they were ready.

'Looking after a horse or pony from birth is a fantastic way to build a strong and loving bond with them.

'You will be the person they rely on and learn from and if you choose to break them in and ride them on, you will have built up a huge amount of trust with them,' said Laura.
