BUCKLAND Abbey's Costume Group are sewing up their final plans for 'Costume Through the Ages' tomorrow (Friday).
From medieval monks to the Edwardians, visitors to the National Trust property will be able to travel through time to see its previous inhabitants brought back to life. The show will run twice – at 11.30am and 2.30pm.
A small group of volunteers started the Buckland Abbey Costume Group in 2000; today there are about 15 who meet regularly to sew at the Abbey.
Member Penny Ruse said: 'Our costume days are fantastic family fun — people come to the Abbey especially for these events.'
The group makes costumes from all periods of the Abbey's history for volunteers and staff to wear while they are on duty. Visitors enjoy seeing the type of clothes that would have been worn by earlier generations.
In addition to the clothes that are worn, the Buckland Abbey Costume Group also makes a high standard of replica clothing that is exhibited within the property.
