ZEST athletes travelled to Penzance to take part in 'The Mounts Bay Junior Aquathlon' on Sunday. In the girls' 9-10 year old race Emily Ackford had a good swim followed by a fantastic run in which she overtook several competitors to finish in first place in a time of 8.03 mins. In the boys' 9-10 year olds Zest had Jordan Channon racing into first place in 7.30 followed by fellow Zest athlete Matt Green in second — 8.15. Hannah Greep and Beth Merriott competed in the girls' 11-12 years with Hannah having by far the fastest run to finish first with a time of 12.02 mins and Beth who showed determination throughout in tenth in a time of 16.09. In the 11-12 year old boys' race Jack Base and Ryan Helcoop had similar swim times but a quicker run by Jack saw him finish in overall fifth (12.47) and Ryan came well placed in eighth (13.27). Will Carter,Tom Green and Rhys Merriott battled it out against each other plus 8 other athletes in the boys 13-14 yr old race with Will finishing third in 15.35mins,Tom fifth — 15.53 and Rhys sixth — 18.01. Last weekend, six of the youngest members of Zest Youth Triathlon took part in the Colehill (Dorset) Aquathlon, achieving the following results: Tristar 1 Girls' 9-10 years, Emily Ackford 1st (6.28),Emily Attfield 4th (7.15),Annabelle Evans 5th (7.35). Tristar 1 Boys (9-10 yrs) Jordan Channon 1st (5.53). Tristar 2 Girls (11-12 yrs) Hannah Greep 2nd (9.15). Tristar 2 Boys (11-12 yrs) Jack Base 4th (9.58).
