IF you are keen to add a historical quality to your culinary skills, go along to Buckland Abbey, Garden and Estate's History Cookery School this month.

There are three specially-tailored events: Tudor fare on Thursday, November 8, Stuart cookery on Thursday, November 15 and Georgian delicacies on Thursday 22 November.

Living History experts Peter and Jen Hood will teach participants how to make authentic dishes in the Abbey's Tudor kitchen, using traditional pots, pans and utensils. With more than 40 years' experience in live interpretation, their background in education and heritage make them informative and exciting teachers.

Once the historical creations have been cooked over the open fire, participants will have the chance to sample what they have made in the company of classmates.

Tickets cost £20 per person for each event, and must be booked either via the website or through the central box office on 0844 249 1895. Two classes will run on each date at 10am and at 2pm.
