TWO local trainers are celebrating a victory against the odds after their horse Sporting Chance won a hunter chase at Newton Abbot on Monday.

Jo Channon and Yvonne Watson, who train horses at Lewdown, were delighted when he achieved success in the novice?s hunter chase over two-and-a-half miles. Sporting Chance was 25-1.

Fourteen started the race and jockey Mark Munrowd always had the gelding in the first two before taking up the lead at the fifth. He jumped well throughout and won convincingly from ?Bill Me Up.?
