Lancaster Cup second round
Bridestowe v Belstone
BRIDESTOWE cricketers outplayed Belstone to record a very convincing 68-run victory in the second round.
Batting first they began at eight runs an over thanks to too many wides from the bowlers and some sloppy fielding and continued at that rate throughout their 20 overs thanks to powerful batting from Phil Hatton (57), Mark Fogerty (29) and Steve Yates (26 not out).
Belstone were briefly in touch when Pete Gross hit two sixes in the sixth over to take the score to 39 for one.
But thereafter the asking rate increased and wickets fell regularly, with only an unbroken last wicket partnership of 27 between Aidan Easterbrook and Simon Tremain delaying the inevitable.
Stephen Sizmur was much the best bowler with impressive figures of five wickets for seven runs off his four overs, four of these being edges snapped up at second slip by B Griffiths.
