THE Okehampton Conservative Club’s annual general meeting saw the retiring club president introduce his successor, who also happens to be his wife.

It was a family affair at the meeting when Ray Vallance passed on the president’s medallion to his wife Margaret, who will take over as the club’s president.

Ray and Margaret are both long serving members of the club and have been congratulated by club members.

Member Mike Wreford said: ‘They have contributed much to the civic and social life of the town, with Ray a former councillor and Mayor.’
