CONSERVATIVE A took the Tavistock Snooker League title for the second year on the trot with one game to spare. West Devon A, who had a slim chance of catching the leaders, had their last hopes dashed when they failed to take the required five frames off Con D.

Con A however did not have an easy ride over the line with their trip to Royal British Legion A anything but a formality. Out of form Lacey had to dig deep to overcome the idiosyncrasies of RBL's Woods to put Con A one up, only for RBL A to bounce back with Grylls inflicting a rare defeat on Con A's Evans. Babb also had to pull out all the stops to overcome stout resistance from RBL A's Wickett to put Con A in front again. The win was sealed with Carruthers doing just enough to rebut another good RBL showing from Stewart.

At this point news was filtering through from the con Club that West Devon had dropped a frame against Con D, which meant that Carruthers win was enough for Con A to retain their title. Up last was Rob Cook with the unenviable task of trying to tame RBL A's in form man Ryall. Ryall (22) proved too strong for Cook and with it, Cook experiencing his first defeat of the season. With the 3-2 win in the bag Con A can now look forward to their last match of the season against West Devon A safe in the knowledge that the title is already secured.

West Devon A went into their game at Con D knowing that only a 5-0 win would be enough to keep their faint hopes of catching leaders Con A alive. They experienced an immediate scare as Con's stand in man Jankowski took Hurford all the way, with Hurford needing to pot the last three balls to wrest the frame away from the tenacious Jankowski. The next two frames went according to plan with Rich (25) and Hawke, experiencing little resistance from Con's Hoare and Holmes. Then came the upset with Con's Wilkinson edging out Chris Hurford in a black ball game to unwittingly hand the league title to Con A. Last on Heathman completed a regulation victory over Con D's Palmer to make it a 4-1 win for West Devon and with it almost certainly the runners-up spot in the league for also the second year on the trot.
