PLYMOUTH Environmental Action (PEA) will be running a free residential weekend for young people aged 16-25, who want to gain experience in conservation volunteering.

The event, starting on Saturday, August 15, will celebrate volunteering and the environment with activities including moth and small mammal trapping (and release), bat surveys, wildflower walks, practical conservation activities, evening games, cooking and a camp fire.

Chris Bond, PEA project manager, said: ‘We will be going to Burrator Reservoir on Dartmoor and staying the night there in the new Discovery centre. On Sunday we will then go to Anthony House, South East Cornwall.’

Burrator Reservoir and the surrounding catchment is owned by South West Water and managed by the charity South West Lakes Trust. Burrator is surrounded by mixed woodland which sharply contrasts with the open moor and rugged Dartmoor tors.
