North Tawton Cubs have been getting down to earth with the North Tawton Environmental Trust to learn about conservation.

Environmental Trust volunteers Paul Baker and Stuart Coleman have been working at their depot in North Street with the cubs for several weeks on their Conservation Badge.

On the first session they discussed a wide range of topical environmental issues ? recycling, conserving nature and energy, avoiding pollution and so on.

During subsequent weeks they were shown around the depot and the work which is done there. The cubs learned to identify different types of trees, collected leaves and brought along some seedling trees which Paul and Stuart helped them plant.

?Their enthusiasm for this badge has been encouraging,? said Paul Baker. ?We hope to do some project work with them next spring when the evenings draw out again.?
