DELIGHTFUL Dartmoor folk tunes collected by the Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould will be celebrated at an instrumental workshop and concert organised by the Wren Trust.
The William Andrews tune book was researched and published by Paul Wilson and Chris Bartram in 1999.
The book is based entirely on the repertoire of late 19th-century fiddler William Andrews of Sheepstor.
The workshop examining these old folk tunes, which takes place at Clearbrook Village Hall on Saturday, October 4, will be followed by a concert when Nick Wyke and Paul Wilson will be joined by other Wren artists including Marilyn Tucker and David Faulkner for a chance to hear other items from the Baring-Gould collection.
The workshop is primarily designed to build repertoire, so all instrumental players are welcome, although elements of playing style can be covered in 'break-out' sessions.
The workshop runs between 10am-5pm, with the concert taking place at 7.45pm, on Saturday, October 4.
l Sensitive songs and rocking riffs collide to give a truly distinctive flavour to the next Wren Music Night at the Octagon Theatre, Okehampton.
The return of the popular music series on Saturday, September 27, will feature two local musical giants in an informal setting with a real ale bar.
Songwriter Bully mixes challenging and poignant lyrics with a warm, approachable style which has made him a favourite at many clubs and festivals.
Exeter-based musician Dave Wood brings his unique finger-picking down-tuned Afro-celtic-blues slide guitar playing delivered in a laid back style.
Hosting the night for Wren will be bagpipe player David Faulkner, who plays a huge variety of tunes on both English border pipes and French bagpipes.
The concert starts prompt at 8pm, with great raffle prizes too.
