Plymouth and West Devon Combination division one

Ordulph Arms 0

Roborough 2

BOTH sides played out an entertaining and competitive match which the away team won although the home side will feel unlucky not to share the points.

The teams were ready to scrap it out on a pitch which was very wet and skiddy with tackles flying in — but although the game was competitive it was by no means dirty. Roborough took the lead as their midfielder outjumped James Aggiss to float a header past Tom Pilbeam. Pilbeam was then forced into making a superb double save to deny Ordulph old boy Wayne Cornish from point blank range.

Aggiss was unlucky not equalise when his close range header flew just wide.

Roborough did score a second on the stroke of half time as some slack marking in the box from another set piece allowed the ball to be squirmed in past a helpless Pilbeam.

Ordulph started the second half well and just couldn't get back into the match.

James Phillpotts made a great save from the away keeper with a forcefully hit free kick and moments later Ben Stephens was threw on goal but due to a tight angle again could only see his shot well saved by the keeper.

Ordulph thought they had scored when Aggis's superb flicked header rebounded off the bar, and Hoskin volleyed over from a Dudley delivery.

Roborough defended stoutly and held on for a valuable win.
