FOUR youngsters from Brentor and Mary Tavy Scout Group recently won themselves a place in the regional scout cooking competition, held in Gloucester. Jason, Izzy, Alex and Georgina won first place in the West Devon competition which led them to the county competition in Beer. Coming second in this round won them a place in the regional finals where they came a very respectable seventh. The scouts cooked a three course gluten-free meal for four people using only the equipment found on a typical scout camp. Their menu included homemade hummus, chilli con carne and bannock bread, banoffee pie and peppermint creams. The competition was judged by local restaurant owners who said they would be pleased to serve the dishes to a wedding party! On Saturday, April 26 from 10am until 1.30pm the scout group is holding a breakfast bonanza at Brentor Village Hall to raise some much needed funds. Come and have a fry up or pancakes served to you by these young finalists.
