THE staff of Moorland Fuels and Southern Lubricants have recently raised more than £1,900 for charity.
Nineteen members of staff set off from the firm's offices on North Road on September 5 to walk on the trail to South Tawton to raise money and awareness for Bowel Cancer West, after a member of the team recently fought the condition, and is now in recovery.
The group was originally aiming to raise £20 a head, though they have smashed that total, raising £1,963.
Kylie Mounce from the firm said: 'We would like to, as a company, raise awareness to other people as this has happened so close to home we feel everyone in the area may take more care in getting checked themselves.
'While it is great to make money we also want people to be aware of the warning symptoms of bowel cancer which include blood in your stool, an unexplained change in bowel habits and unexplained weight loss.
'The team has really come together to take on this challenge for a good cause and we would like to do more in the future.'
