A NON-profit making company, which was burgled recently, has expressed thanks to the Tavistock community for its support.
Four computers, valued at around £1,000 in total, were taken from TRC and Training Limited in a raid on two premises in the pannier market complex last month.
A collection box raising money for a charity walk was also taken but since the burglary donations have been flooding in, restoring shop manager Janet Mashford's faith in human nature.
The two-year-old company runs computer courses at discounted prices to pay for its running costs and also recycles computers.
Mrs Mashford said people had been bringing in tips from Bob's Café in the pannier market for the collection box for her daughter Janette Pattinson's walk from Paddington to Plymouth and it had just carried on.
'It got up to £200 very quickly as people put in all sorts from odd change to £10 notes,' she said.
'The burglary was very disheartening but this was something positive to come out of it. People have been very kind.'
Mrs Mashford said it cost £450 a month to cover the running costs of the shop and the burglary had been a real setback for a company of this type, which was aimed at providing a service to the community.
Police are continuing to seek information regarding the burglary on May 11 in which £29,000 worth of stock of shoes and bags was also stolen from Georgie M. The crimes occurred sometime after 12.30am.
