THE first ever community event for the Tamarside area, which incorporates Lamerton, Gulworthy and Sydenham Damerel, is being held on Thursday, March 17, at Lamerton Community Hall.

The afternoon, designed to bring many different services to the community, will start at 12.30pm with a free dance taster session for adults, followed by the information event itself at 2pm.

The local Community Safety Partnership, which works to reduce crime and disorder, has part-funded the afternoon along with West Devon Borough Council's Connect service, and they will be joined by many others, among them the fire and rescue service with its interactive vehicle, Devon County Council's Family Information Service, Wheels 2 Work, the Citizens Advice Bureau and Active Villages project.

There will be a free cream tea for those attending.

The day will be rounded off with another free taster session — break dance for young people aged eight to 16, from 5.30pm until 6.30pm.

A free bus service will be provided by Tavistock Area Support Services from surrounding villages to the event.

This and the dance taster sessions, which are delivered through the Active Villages project, can be pre-booked by contacting Claire Wager on 01822 813600 or emailing [email protected]">[email protected]
