TAVISTOCKS annual community day, which takes place in the towns Bedford Square on Saturday September 4, is shaping up to rival last years bumper event.

Building on West Devon Connects other local initiatives, the community day offers people the chance to gather help and advice on a range of public services in a beautiful and historic setting in the centre of town.

This year, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services new educational vehicle will be putting in an appearance, aiming to improve young drivers and their passengers awareness, attitude and behaviour to the dangers of the road and the consequences of risk taking.

The councils recycling and waste education team will be out and about delivering their own Reduce, Reuse, Recycle message, as well as giving out information on the new waste and recycling collection arrangements for the borough.

Promoting their range of facilities and services will be Tavistock Library, who are eager to let people know they have a wide stock of CDs and DVDs alongside the books, computer access by the half-hour, and a mass of service information.
