AN international flavour will be given to the floral arrangements at this year's Peter Tavy Flower Festival next week.

From Friday July 6 to Sunday July 8, Peter Tavy will stage the festival, which is organised once every four years, at St Peter's Church.

For the year of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games, the floral arrangements will be themed on countries of the Commonwealth.

There will also be an exhibition in the village hall, looking at the parish's links to the wider world, both through those who have left the village to seek new lives and work overseas, and through current day parishioners' links and visits around the globe.

The whole community in Peter Tavy joins to stage the festival and any money raised is divided equally between the village hall, St Peter's Church and the Methodist Church.

The festival is open from 10am to 6.30pm on the Friday and Saturday, and from 10.30am to 6pm on Sunday. It concludes with a special 'Songs of Praise' service at 6.30pm in St Peter's Church on the Sunday.
