Liskeard U13s 0
Tavistock U13s 29
A TRANSFORMED Tavistock side took to the pitch at Liskeard, proving that discipline, determination, teamwork and two weeks hard coaching brings results.
Within minutes, the visitors dominated with excellent passing play between David Williams, Thomas Honey and centres Ben Ewings and Shaun Daymond.
Alex Pickard took the first try with a huge driving effort from the Tavistock forwards.
This was swiftly followed with an excellent score from Thomas Friend, quickly snatched from a five-metre scrum.
Honey seemed certain to score after a dummy pass and jinking run, only to drop the ball over the line.
Williams was next to surge over the try line, converted by Honey.
More superb passages of play followed with effective rucking — Thomas Ewings, Friend, Danny O'Connor Thompson and Eliott Jens defending particularly well.
The final try in the first half was a great effort from the backs to Ramone Burton. who showed blistering speed on the left wing to take his first try for Tavistock.
The second half saw a few missed passes creeping in, but Tavistock settled again with welcome defending from Toby Huntington-Whiteley, Jonathan Freeman back from injury and new man Luke Clement.
Rob Shuttler playing hooker had an excellent game and made many good runs for Tavistock.
Ewings took the final and very well deserved try, converted by Honey.
Next training at 10am, Sunday December 30.
Tavistock U9s 5
Devonport Services U9s 50
TAVISTOCK's current style of rugby fell foul of a Devonport side with excellent forward play and tackling skills.
The Tavistock fast men, with their particular brand of solo play, were on the whole ineffective against this skilled team.
Elliot Hoyte scored the only Tavistock try with a fast breakaway down the touchline.
Some brave tackling from Jack Haigh and Philip Snell prevented an even larger margin of defeat.
Thanks were expressed to Rob Webber for his first rate refereeing.
Tavistock U9s convene again at Sandy Park on January 6 for training.
