THE commanding officer of Tavistock Salvation Army Corps will retire on Sunday, January 26.
Divisional Envoy Diane Cains has been in command since November 1995 and has built up a regular congregation of approximately 30.
Although in poor health, she intends to continue as a regular soldier.
The retirement service on the Sunday will be conducted by the Divisional Commander South West, Major Clifford Bradbury, who will also install Major Joyce Holmes as the new commanding officer.
The service will be held in the Methodist Hall in Chapel Street at 6.30pm and musical groups from Devonport and Plymouth Congress Hall will be attending.
