THE legendary Plymouth Argyle side of 1984, who were just one game away from an FA Cup final, are in action against Horrabridge Rangers in a special charity match to be played on Sunday, September 30. The match, to be held at Fillace Park in Horrabridge, is likely to feature former Argyle stars such as Tommy Tynan, Kevin Hodges, Gordon Nisbet, Geoff Crudginton and Leigh Cooper. Money from the game will go to Leukaemia Research ? the chosen charity is in honour of the assistant manager of Horrabridge Rangers U18s Peter Green, who is himself battling the disease. Robert Mitchelmore, chairman of Horrabridge Rangers, is delighted that the Argyle veterans, who just lost 1-0 in a close contest against Graham Taylor?s Watford in 1984 at Villa Park to miss out on a Wembley final against Everton, have agreed to match their skills against the village first team. All are welcome and there will be refreshments available. A game between Horrabridge U10s and U11s of 20 minutes each way precedes the main event, which kicks off at 2.30pm.
