TAMAR Valley Hash Harriers ? the group of athletic and not-so-athletic individuals who run around the countryside on Monday nights ? is holding a special run and social event this Saturday and is appealing for former members to come along and renew old acquaintances.

The group, which was formed in 1981, now numbers more than 150 members. Each Monday evening, around 60 to 80 members of TVHH run around a course previously laid out by two ?hares?, who have marked the trail, and sometimes false trails, with sawdust or flour. At the end of the run, the ?hounds? gather in the nearest pub for some well earned refreshments.

This Saturday, July 26, there will be a ?1200 run?, leaving Alder Sportswear at Lewdown at noon, finishing with a barbecue and a swim.

During the evening, there will be a social event held at Gulworthy Village Hall, with a seven-piece soul band, food and dancing.

?Grand master? of Tamar Valley Hash Harriers, Bill Stacey-Norris, said: ?I should think there would be about 80 to 100 people taking part in the run ? but we would love to track down and see some of the earlier people who used to belong to the hash.?

Anyone interested in joining the TVHH, renewing acquaintances or who would like more information can call Bill Stacey-Norris on 01822 854962 (eves).
