REMEMBER, remember, the fifth of November — Guy Fawkes night is almost upon us again, bringing with it the Sticklepath Fireshow.
This year's show, entitled 'Bamboozled', is again being staged with the wonderful support of the community, including the children who participate in workshops preceding the event and performing on the night.
Behind the scenes, up to 200 locals will play their part in making the show the success it has become.
The building of the stage is ongoing despite the recent wet weather, and preparations are fully underway for show rehearsals and costumes. This year's show is the 29th since its inception in 1984.
Previous shows have led Guy on adventures as far away as Egypt, China and India. As always, the story is top secret until the night and as with tradition, Guy will go up in flames on the bonfire.
The event at the National Trust's Finch Foundry field attracts up to 3,000 visitors each year.
This year's show starts at 7.30pm with gates open at 6pm. Prices are unchanged from last year with adult tickets costing £7 and children aged 14 and under at £3. Tickets are limited, and available in advance from Donald's Menswear and the Flower Pot in Okehampton, as well as Sticklepath and South Zeal Stores.
There will be a limited number of on-the-night tickets this year for sale on the main gate outside Finch Foundry from 6pm. Tickets do sell fast, so the fireshow committee advises people to buy their tickets in advance.
Refreshments are available. Parking in the village will be limited, but a free shuttle bus runs from outside Martin's Newsagents and Giblands bus stop in Okehampton. Buses to Sticklepath start at 6.15pm and finish at 7.15pm, with buses returning to Okehampton after the show.
No alcohol, fireworks or sparklers are allowed on the field.
