THE town mayor is encouraging residents of Okehampton to attend the town council's annual assembly on Monday, March 25.
The council holds the assembly each year to engage with the people of the town, inviting them to listen to the latest workings of the authority and find out more about what is going on in and around Okehampton.
Last year's event saw a low turnout, but town mayor Cllr the Rev Mike Davies is hoping as many people as possible attend this year:?'The annual town assembly is an ideal opportunity for any Okehampton resident to come along and ask questions about the present or future of Okehampton. I would encourage as many people to come along with whatever questions they might have.'
This year's assembly will have a different format. After a brief introduction from the mayor, there will be an opportunity for informal discussion with councillors over tea and coffee at various tables around the room. There will then be short presentations from the chairpersons of the council's four committees: parks, policy and resources, planning and property.
Members of the public will then be able to ask questions from the floor.
The assembly takes place in the Charter Hall on at 7pm. Everyone is invited to attend.
