North/Okes U12s 26

Crediton U12s 0

THS result was slightly flattering in what was an excellent game by both teams.

With the sides giving their all it took ten minutes before Robert Stepto managed to cross the line, following excellent rucking by Andrew Fishleigh, Merick Kirby, Will Hawkins and Tom Dean. Conversion by Andrew North.

Stepto was on a roll and got a second try after linking up with James Ewen following a lineout. Conversion by Andrew North.

In the second half it was the turn of the backs to show their skills with a quickly taken penalty which was passed right along the line, allowing Darcy Heard, on a great line from first centre, to receive the scoring pass from Kevin Dennis.

With Cameron Rickerby controlling loose play in midfield, picked up and made an excellent break, passing to North in support, allowing him to score.

With Luke Miller at full back, James Speak at second row and Tom Gill on the wing this was a shining example of junior rugby.

THIS was an entertaining game with both sides trying to run the ball and play constructive rugby.

Crediton had the better first half and scored three tries at regular intervals. William Lethbridge, Jordan Lee, Peter Gillard and Dan Curtis tackled well in defence.

The second half saw North/Okes improve their game. The forwards started driving at the rucks and mauls, with James Speak winning loose ball. This presented the backs with ball to attack with.

A good handling move and a strong run by Bill Sharp, took North/Okes close to the Crediton line. The forwards then maintained the pressure for Tom Mallet to drive over the line to score his first try of the season. Jordan Lee converted.

GOOD play led to an exciting game, with good forward play by both teams. Thomas White, Buster Francis and Felix Gardner worked well leaving Matthew Johns to have plenty of ball at scrum half. Johns scored his first try of the match.

Jamie Hignett went over for the first of his three tries after good interpassing by the backs of Tom Fogerty, Sam Ewen, Henry Cooper and Tom Aylen. Francis got onto the scoresheet after good driving enabled him to pick up a loose ball.

Okehampton?s backs got the better of Crediton, allowing the home side to score out wide. Crediton kept working hard up front and in the second half scored a couple of tries but Hignett and Johns scored again, keeping the pressure on.

In the second game (Okehampton 10, Crediton 5) with players playing in new positions Kit Cornthwaite made a great break to score his first try and Sam Ewen managed to go over as well.

Okehampton U15s 26

Bude U15s 12

THIS entertaining game was fought out in glorious sunshine between two evenly matched teams.

After excellent interplay between backs and forwards outside centre Alex Dennis went over for the first score, well converted by David Fewings.

Hard work and good ball retention by the pack set up Nick Martin to go crashing over for Okehampton?s second try, again converted by Fewings.

Good defence by Neil Parrot, Tom Carter and Chris Back was finally undone by Bude, who hit back with two tries and a conversion.

In the second half Okehampton?s pack started to dominate with Chris Back going from strength to strength. This resulted in Okehampton?s captain Jamie Pavely scoring the third try.

With Okehampton in control and centre Luke Honeychurch making breaks into Bude?s defence it was only a matter of time before the pack won good ball end scrum half Alisdair Grant gave quick ball for the backs, resulting in Dennis again scoring a try to round off an excellent team performance.
