Oke Columbines 6 Plym Valley II 1 BOTH teams began this match with equal points at the top of the league. They played with determination and there was some relief when Jo Moppett did a splendid run round the opposition to put Okehampton in the lead. Play was fast and furious and Okehampton?s defence were getting a little over-excited and a short corner was given against them. A chill pill was recommended to Okehampton and taken but Plym kept up the pace and scored with a swift and well-taken strike. At half-time the score was 1-1. Both teams came back with great determination, making more use of the whole field. Jane Jones, undeterred, or perhaps stimulated, by several blows to the hand that meant leaving the field at one point to staunch the blood, had a cracking game at left half. Alex Collins fought for a good cross from the right to score. Jo Moppett built on this lead to score three more with some excellent solo runs. This was supported by a good passing trio of Alex Collins and Jo Drake. Collins scored her second off a neat pass in the circle as the work of this trio. Hannah Whitely had a good game at right wing, creating space and with some good running off the ball opened up the game. Plym Valley never stopped fighting until the final whistle and the whole Okehampton team played well. l Okehampton?s next league match is against Newton Abbot away on Saturday.
