Tavistock Colts 14
Plymouth Argaum 0
IN a hard fought match saw Tavistock secure a solid win over Argaum at Sandy Park. After a bright start by the visitors, Tavistock secured the first points of the game by a Josh Leeson penalty.
Not to be deterred, Argaum fought back and, winning a lineout on Tavistock's five metre line, pounded the try line. However, Tavistock's defence remained solid and after winning the scrum were able to clear to halfway. Good handling across the backs then pressurised Arguam into giving away a second penalty just outside their 22m, enabling Leeson to make it 6-0.
Argaum again surged forward and pressurised Tavistock's try line, but to no avail. The second half was similar to the first, with hard tackling, rucking‚and running on both sides making it a very entertaining game to watch.
The game remained finely balanced until, with around 10 minutes to play. Tavistock spread the ball wide and recycled efficiently for captain Robin Jones to power over from 15 metres, Leeson's conversion drifting wide. More good pressure won Tavistock another penalty deep in Argaum territory, which Leeson converted with 3 minutes to play, making it 14-0 and securing the game for the home team.
This was a good win for the Colts against hard hitting Argaum team, who hope to build on this success against Kingsbridge next week.
