STICKLEPATH?S traditional flower show is being staged next week with a colourful theme ? ?Joseph?s coat of many colours?. Members of Okehampton Flower Club will exhibit floral arrangements in the Methodist Chapel as well as St Mary?s Church opposite the village hall. The flower show takes place from 2pm on Saturday, August 19 and also incorporates the village fete on Hayes, the field behind the Methodist Chapel. The fete will feature a wide variety of attractions, including a dog show, car boot sale and various fun events to amuse all ages, particularly children, plus displays by the Okehampton Detachment of the Air Training Corps. Visitors can also learn more about South West Water and Dartmoor National Park Authority who will have information stands, as will St John Ambulance. Following last year?s successful introduction of the Northlew Brass Band, organisers are delighted that the band will again provide some lively and enjoyable musical entertainment. Sticklepath Community Church, the WI and Jack and Jill Playgroup mums have joined forces to offer cream teas and cakes. The afternoon?s entertainment will wrap up at 5pm with the final duck race along the leat towards Finch Foundry. The Sticklepath Horseshoe ?fell? Run will be held at the same time as the fete with the first runners expected to complete the 9.6 miles roundabout course to Cosdon Hill in about 75 minutes. Visitors are reminded there is limited car parking in the village and no car parking on the field itself.
