RESIDENTS at two Tavistock guest houses had a rude awakening last Wednesday night, when a car veered off the road and badly damaged six vehicles parked on both driveways. Iris Callaghan of April Cottage said the accident occurred at around 11.50pm. Mrs Callaghan said: ?The car was going along Dolvin Road when it mounted the kerb in front of Kingfisher Cottage next door and went straight into one of their guest?s cars. As it hit that car, it span round and came into our driveway. ?It damaged my car, the guest?s car next door and three of our guests? cars ? we were up past 1.30 in the morning making cups of tea, it was horrendous. ?All the guests were panicking because they all had things they had to be doing the next day, they all needed to get somewhere.? Mrs Callaghan said the driver of the car was lucky to escape any injuries ? her garden, as well as the cars, was not so fortunate and was badly damaged by the crash. ?The phone never stopped ringing next day, with everyone trying to sort out insurance,? she said. PC Ian Griffiths of Tavistock Police Station confirmed that officers were investigating the incident. He asked anyone who saw the M-registered purple Nissan 200 SX, which was driven by a single male, in the Tavistock area late on Wednesday evening, to contact him on 08452 777444, quoting ref 1561 of 07/06/06.
