THEY are the best team in the county — and that's official.
Tavistock College U15s triumphed at the Devon Schoolgirls U15s rugby tournament played at Brickfields, the home of Plymouth Albion.
In a five team contact tournament — involving Tavistock College, East Devon's Clyst Vale, Ivybridge, Plympton (made up of a combined Hele School and Ridgeway team) and Kingsbridge —it was the town team who came out on top.
Tavistock College U15s girls, led by Bethany Neave, won all their matches, including a 25-10 win over Ivbridge Community College in the final. They scored 85 points overall in the tournament and only conceded 10. Bethany was presented with the player of the month award by Plymouth Albion captain Arthur Brenton. The team was coached on the day by Hammy Kerswell and Kirsty McCall, and supervised by Tavistock College's head of PE Ashley Tossell.
Tavistock College PE teacher Tristan Forster told the Times: 'The girls did very well and we are proud of them.
'All the team had a fantastic time and are a credit to the college. Now they are just looking forward to more games next year.'
