THIS friendly hockey match opened with good attacking play from Tavistock. The midfield of Emma Bowden, Becky Hutton and Kath Collar enabled Tavistock to put some good strikes at the goal, but the Liskeard keeper was quick to deflect the shots.
The two wing players, Laura Armstrong and Lisa Hogan, made excellent crosses into the D but Tavistock were not able to take advantage of them.
The determination paid off as a ball was crossed by Armstrong, which enabled Collar to slip it past the keeper. The score was 1-1 at half time as Liskeard scored from a short corner.
The second half was again attacking play for Tavistock, with the defence seldom troubled. Numerous shots were taken at goal but it was just not going to happen and Judy Smallacombe and Hogan did their utmost to connect with the ball. Emma Bowden took a last striking attempt at the keeper and only narrowly missed.
