A COUPLE hundred people accompanied Cody the donkey and the Rev Michael Brierley in the Palm Sunday parade around Tavistock's Bedford Square this weekend.

The sun shone as the congregation sang during the procession to commemorate Palm Sunday, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.

Following the procession, the crowd gathered in St Eustachius' Church for a drama, written by Peggy Salmon of Dousland, based on the theme of Holy Week.

The Rev Michael Brierley said: 'The weather was very kind to us, a couple of hundred people turned out for the procession and we all had a great time. We all sang as we walked through Bedford Square.'
