A TABLE tennis club launched in February by Tavistock Area Support Services has proved so successful that a taster morning is now being held to purchase a third table. The event takes place on Friday April 20 from 10 am to 1pm. During the morning people will be able to play table tennis, enjoy coffee and cakes and also take part in 'the one minute challenge' — where couples can see how many times they can hit the ball over the net in a minute. The aim is to raise money for a third table so more can people over 55 can enjoy the sessions held at the Anchorage Centre. Since the launch of the club, a beginners' group has been developed and the team has played a friendly match against Okehampton. Lorraine Robinson, who takes the sessions, said she was thrilled to see so many people over 55 enjoying table tennis and delighted how the club has evolved over the last two months. For more information about the event or the club contact Andy Lyle at the Anchorage Centre on 01822 616958.
