MEMBERS of Inner Wheel of Tavistock celebrated 25 years of the club with a birthday dinner at Tavistock Golf Club.

The event also marked the 90th anniversary of the formation of Inner Wheel in the United Kingdom.

Two workers from Plymouth Woman's Refuge gave a talk at the dinner, and said that the refuge itself has eleven en-suite bedrooms and 13 safe houses spread around the city.

They heard that often women who seek refuge arrive with nothing and are given basic items of toiletries, underwear and clothes for which the refuge relies on donations.

Members of the club donated a cheque for £250 towards the cost of these items.
