A BOWLING Club has been left £20,000 in the will of one of its former members. Derek Beeby, who died at the end of last year left the sum to North Tawton Bowling Club, of which he was a member for almost 30 years. He served as both secretary and treasurer of the club for several years. Mr Beeby, who moved to North Tawton from the Leicester area, left an estate which has been valued at £1,202,612. He was not married and did not have any children, but he is believed to have had cousins in Devon. A club spokesman said Derek did an enormous amount of work for the club. ?He was very dedicated, helping out with everything from cutting the grass to organising matches. ?He was a huge benefactor but the money he left was a lovely surprise. ?We are a very small traditional club with just over 40 members but we still have the same outgoings as larger clubs and the money is certainly needed. ?We have been going for more than 50 years but it costs thousands to run the club every year. It is typical of Derek to leave money to the bowling club as he did so much for the club and he is greatly missed.?
