AT considerable expense last September, I, like many others, had to invest in a new TV set (and recorder) in order to upgrade to receive the new digital TV signals via Freeview.

This was marketed to the public as a great advance in TV technology. This it may be, but am I alone in feeling that it's not an advance in picture and sound quality? There may be in the region of 100 stations on offer, but our enjoyment is frequently marred by loud clicking and picture degradation, and inability to download programme information into the recorder.

Beamed on to Caradon transmitter instead of Walreddon as it was in the analogue days was promised to be an improvement, but frankly it isn't.

Does anyone know: a) how to avoid the problems? and b) is there a plan for improved transmissions?
