A TAVISTOCK man will be attempting an all-day ?pianothon? next week, in an effort to raise funds for Children in Need. Brian Chapple will embark on his solo piano marathon at 9.30am on Friday November 16 in Tavistock Parish Church, where he intends to play classical music virtually non-stop throughout the day. Brian, a composer, piano accompanist and teacher, said: ?The music will range from Scarlatti through to Gershwin, via Bach, Mozart, Liszt, Scott Joplin etc, as well as excerpts from my new collections, Bagatelles Diverses and Swing?s The Thing.? Mr Chapple will also give a 20-minute concert for children from St Rumon?s Infants School during the day, featuring music of particular interest to the youngsters, including the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Clair de Lune. Anyone who would like to visit the parish church during the day to listen to Brian and hopefully leave a generous donation is welcome.
